In just under three minutes, her life was transformed forever. On January 21st, 2009, Susan Boyle, a 47-year-old chapel volunteer from Scotland, walked onstage to audition for a chance at England's hit Television show Britain's Got Talent. In what has now gone down in history books as "The Susan Boyle Audition", she faced the judges, crowds and tv audience and shared her dream - to become a professional singer. This momment would be eatched in the hitory books from this day forward as the day of the "Susan Boyle Audition".

As she walked on stage, many snickered, others rolled their eyes. However, when Susan belted out the first line of the Les Miserables hit "I Dreamed a Dream", jeers very quickly turned to cheers. The show stopping performance that has been viewed online on more than 120 million occasions, has taken individuals by the heart and skyrocketed her to fame. The Susan Boyle audition "was one of the most extraordinary moments of the entertainment world in 2009," quote Oprah Winfrey.

Before this instance however, Susan's life was not even close to extraordinary.

When Susan was a little girl, her Dad and Mom were told not to expect much from the youngest of their 9 kids, Susan. While her mother was in labour with Susan, things did not go perfectly and Susan was depleted of vital oxygen and was left with a slight disability.

He younger years where a tough time, Susan explains. "I did not make friends very easily. I couldn't trust anybody, and whenever I did try to speak to people, they would poke fun at me," she states. "So the only real escape from just about all that, truly, was music."

It was a lifelong dream of Susan's to become a professional singer, but when tradgedy struck in 2007 with the death of her mother, she said she lost the will to sing. "The loneliness really set in, I know that [my mother] meant me to do something with my life, but I didn't know until I applied for the television program." Susan explains.

To the shock of loyal fans, Susan ended up running second place on Britain's Got Talent, but that didn't stop her debut album from screaming up to the number one position on the charts.

Since its release in November 2009, I Dreamed a Dream by Susan Boyle has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, making it the biggest female debut of all time! "It's astounding," Susan says in a typical Susan fashion. "It's very humbling, as well."
