On several occasions, you might be faced with the challenge of statue restoration. While precious materials may require professional touch to bring back its lost glory, there are simple fixes that you can do on your own especially when the damages are just minor dents or scratches. Luckily, the items you will be needing for repairing damaged ceramic and glass items are easy to acquire. There are just a few pointers that you need to remember.

Before you start the repairs, make sure that you have all the essentials for the process. Secure safety gloves, modeling clays, razor blades, adhesives and the pin or wooden stick you will be using to apply them. You may use anything that holds fast to the materials as your bonding agent. A usual choice is a two-part slow-setting clear epoxy glue because of its clean results.

Think about the types of materials that you need to put together. Find out whether you need to hold together ceramics or glass materials in order to determine the best binders to use. The composition of the statues that need to be restored have to be considered as some bonding agents may only be efficient on certain kinds of materials.

After determining what kind of adhesive you needed, prepare the surfaces that you have to bond. Properly clean each piece before putting them together. Smudges and dirt keep the pieces from sticking well enough. Do not forget to don on the protective gloves as you clean the materials. Its sharp edges can injure you if you are careless.

A wooden stick, paper clip or pin tool may be used in applying the bonds. Use just enough amount of bonding agent to one side of the broken edge. Avoid putting too much as it may deem it more difficult to piece the items together. Using too little binder may leave gaps that could result in weak repairs, too.

Applying heat to the bonded material may hasten the curing time while adjusting its fit. A hundred and ten to a hundred forty degrees Fahrenheit is the ideal temperature for curing. Swiftly put the two pieces together and apply light pressure for the right fit. Extra glue may be squeezed out to achieve the required amount of adhesives.

Dealing with multiple breaks can be more challenging. To deal with this properly, you may plan the sequence well ahead of time. Find out which parts you need to bond first and proceed with progression. You might get into all sorts of trouble if you start soldering its pieces without a strategic plan. This may end up a mess and complications may arise.

Placing a number during the dry run can be really helpful. This can assist you in the actual process. Through this, you can determine if all the parts are intact or there are any lost pieces. Go through the number sequence carefully. Make sure that each piece has fully cured before proceeding to the next section.

The last process in statue restoration is providing the finishing touches. In most part, this is also the most daunting. You have to carefully select the color and painting to use. It must be similar to the previous one to fully regain its former glory. When things seem to be too much for you to handle, do not think twice about getting expert services. The specialists can fully restore them for you.
