Do you have an event or function in the near future and are considering hiring some form of entertainment for your guests? As a professional magician in Leeds, I would like to offer you my experience and advice in choosing a suitable act. Most people wont have had the experience in hiring an entertainer so allow me to show you step by step how to do this as pain free as possible.

The very first thing I would recommend you do is to use a local entertainment directory and search for entertainers in your local area. Touch Local is useful as is the ever reliable search engines like Google or Bing. By typing in local specific searches like "Magician in Leeds" it will highlight all your potential entertainers in one go. Its beneficial to keep your searches local at the start to keep your costs down. Local entertainers should work out cheaper due to lack of travel expenses.

Hopefully you will have found one or two local performers who could be suitable for you upcoming event. Now is the ideal time to see if they have any online examples of their acts. A show reel may be embedded on their site or on places such as YouTube etc. It's very important to view as many show reels as possible because they sell the act better than any photos of text will. A good performer knows this and will spend time and money having a quality reel filmed and edited for their site. As a professional magician in Leeds, I spent a couple of years collecting appropriate footage for use in my show reel. It's a very important element to a performer's website

Now you will have had a chance to view some of the performers show reels, it's the ideal opportunity to make contact and request a quote. Most performers offer several ways in which you can make contact, be it via email, phone or a dedicated enquiry form. It's always better to give as much information as possible in regards to the event. Explain to the Leeds magician or singer the location of the event, the time and date you require them and details such as the number of guests and the type of event being held.

Once your quote has come back only you can decide if you want to hire or not. If you decide to hire then the performer may wish you to check and sign a booking contract. Pay attention to any small print. You may be required to pay a deposit, if so find out how much. Most performers will be ok with settling the balance of the fee on the night in cash or cheque. Some however may prefer a bank transfer in advance; speak to your magician in Leeds or other chosen entertainer to find out their protocol. In the build up to the event, you might want to keep the entertainer up to date with any potential changes to the schedule.
