Since the story was created over a hundred years ago, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland has enthralled and entertained people of all ages. At times satirical, this story tells the tale of a young girl and her travels to a mythical magical Wonderland. Now, you can recreate the magic of this tale by wearing your very own Alice in wonderland costume for your next gala or special event.

The recent release of yet another movie retelling of the tale has brought new attention to the story. This time, the talented Tim Burton brought his interpretation to the story. Using the acting talents of luminaries such as Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, the story has been brought to life once more, with an interesting twist.

You can make your own costume for the role of Alice fairly simply. Start with a white knee-length skirt with lace trim. If you can not find such a skirt, try simply making a tube skirt with your sewing machine and stitching eyelet onto the hem.

Now you will need a blue dress, which has a pan style collar, short puffy sleeves and which hems just above the line of lace on your white shift. Over top of your dress, you will need to wear a white apron. The apron has a bib style, and ties at the base of the neck and at the waist.

If you are not a natural blond, you will want to color your hair or purchase a wig to wear for your special occasion. Remember that Alice wore her hair back, and kept it there with a black bow. In addition to these accessories, you may also want to wear black shoes and white stockings, depending on the temperature at the time of your event.

Now you have everything you need to be a convincing Alice. If you find that this is just too much work to put all these elements together, you should be able to find what you need at a good costume store. There, you can be sure to find the perfect Alice in wonderland costume.
