This is required as the Main Interface takes up most of the room and therefore the uploaded image/background is shown on each side of the screen. Users are also given the option to make their own backgrounds in graphic editors such as paint shop pro and photo shop.

Out of the various used background types in Twitter Background the most common are the Repeating Background, Fading Background and Enlarged Image Background. Replicating Background as the name says consists of an image which is copied or replicated several times and strewn across the whole screen as a backdrop. This is easy and convenient to use and is compatible with all resolutions. The Fading Background on the other hand has a smaller image presented in solid color's and is then blended into the background. The Enlarged Image Background which is mainly used by designers to show off their work uses an extra large image which is displayed in higher resolutions to portray their creativity.
