The Color Run San Diego is a yearly event that consists of a 5K race, lots of colors, and a fun time with friends and fellow racers. There is a sign up process for racers that requires a registration fee, but others can volunteer or just show up on race day to watch the show. A San Diego charity is chosen to get a portion of the money that is gathered during the event.
The race starts at 9:00 AM, and then colors will fly through the air every five minutes following the start of the race. The colored corn starch is thrown by the Color Bomb Squad (a group of volunteers) at all of the racers that pass them by. Volunteers will be tossing handfuls of colored corn starch at the runners, so it is completely safe. Once the racers go across the finish line they will be able to throw colors at their pals and fellow racers.
The charity that will surely be benefitting from the Color Run San Diego is called Deaf Community Services of San Diego. Their objective is to empower the lives of men and women in the deaf and hard of hearing community by eliminating barriers to services, education, and advocacy, and this is why they were chosen. Other race locations will donate a portion of their proceeds to a charity that is in that area.
The Color Run San Diego provides a unique t-shirt to everybody who takes part in the event. Runners will get a t-shirt celebrating The Art of Running and volunteers will receive a shirt that acknowledges them as a part of the Color Bomb Squad. Included in the registration packet with the shirt, racers will find other items supplied by sponsors including a racing bib and sunglasses. People of all ages are encouraged to participate, and racers under the age of 7 can run for free.
The Color Run San Diego is a fun event for people who like to run or people who would have fun as a volunteer. A local charity receives a part of the money gathered from the event each year when the 5K Color Run occurs. The more people that attend, the bigger the party and people in all age groups are invited to attend the event. At the end of the race, every person will be covered in head to toe with rainbow colors, and everyone will have a chance to eat great food, listen to music, and spend the rest of the day with their friends.
