Well with 4 kids we needed something tough. This is a great sturdy camera.
It does not have the zoom capabilities as some other cameras.
It is by far one of the best little point and clicks that I have had and I have had at least 5 in the past 5 years. It's built well and has an exceptional battery life (275 picks per charge on average with 14 MP pictures) and the recharge is fairly quick. It does as said, for now. The shipping was pretty slow but all in all a great buy. Well - it worked fine at the beach the first day - in the surf and on the sand - the second day we took it snorkeling - in less than 2 feet of water flashed a message saying "Lost Connection" - it then gave up completely. We did everything correctly, charged and loaded the battery at home - no sand, dust or obstruction to the waterproofing.
I need more zoom distance for all the scenic views. Had my first spill in the Kayak and the camera did not pass the test of being water proof.
I don't know if this is an electrical, software, physical or factory defect problem, but I've read a few reviews of Olympus underwater and tough models having a similar problem, so I'm hoping I can at least get the camera fixed or repaired by Olympus, but nothing can replace the photos I can't take now. These pictures, if taken under fair conditions (sufficient light, clear water), the quality is very good. And in my experience salt water leaves a film on the lens so always wash in clean fresh water after any underwater activity. The on-board software glitches when I tried to load it onto my computer, but I haven't really tried to fix it yet. It's my second one and now, with the addition of high-def video, I really can't say anything negative about the Stylus Tough 6020 underwater video!
I was constantly trying to figure out how to change them and often would give up and go for the automatic--which never was very good. I finally started taking them in automatic and changing the lighting and such in a computer editing program.
It starts with "plug the camera into a computer and load the software" - what software" There is none! After much frustration getting the camera initialized, without which you cannot download pictures to your computer, my husband went to Olympus's web site and downloaded both the manual and software. Now the camera is functioning well.
Great price and I like the color choice I made. Highly recommend this camera for the adventurous. However, the first time I took it in the water (a swimming pool), it leaked and died. Being past the 1-year warrantee, I could do nothing but replace it. I would recommend this camera but not for everyday use, then I would get something more complex. If you are a photographer this is not the camera for you.

The old version used a smaller version which meant I couldn't swap them out with other cameras (yes, we own several different digital cameras.) The camera is pretty great. garage storage closets.
