Lady Gaga has become one of the most talked about musical performers in the charts today. With an outrageous line in costumes, as well as a talent for stealing the limelight, the New-York born performer has become one of the most recognizable names in the pop world today.

She was born in 1986, with her real name being Stefani Joanne Germanotta. Her debut album 'The Fame' was released in 2008, paving the way for her the massive popularity she now enjoys.

Many have compared her to Madonna, and it is easy to see where the comparisons come from. Both have Italian-American heritage and were raised in Roman Catholic families. The older singer's provocative costumes and predilection for causing outrage are certainly points of comparison between the two performers.

But it is perhaps in rock that we find most of the performer's actual influence. The late Freddie Mercury, the former lead singer of Queen, had a flamboyance and attention-seeking charisma that New Yorker clearly finds inspiring. After all, she took her name from the title of the Queen song 'Radio Gaga'. The star has also been open in her support of gay rights.

The Lady Gaga Strawberry Video Art Show is a piece of internet film which states that it is representing the singer in the form of a piece of fruit, in this case, a strawberry. Although there is no sense or reason which can be discerned in the film, it is a sign of the performers omnipresence in contemporary media that it has been made at all.

Food has been used by the singer in her costumes, having once appeared in a dress which was made from meat. She has established her own creative design team, her 'Haus', who conceive and design the increasingly weird outfits for which she has become known.

Strawberry art tributes may be a silly way of showing appreciation for the star, but the commercial impact which continues to be made by Lady Gaga is immense.
