Compact discs or more popularly known as CDs are quite popular in terms of usage today. Basically, a CD is an optical disc that is utilized to store various digital data. Decades ago, it was originally used to store music. However, as years passed, it gained a following and is now employed to store other types of data, like pictures and text documents as well as movies. There are also discs that you can only use ones and there are also rewriteable samples for those who want to recycle or save money.

It is undeniable that a CD can bring about so many benefits. The first one is because it is very effective as a file backup tool. It defeated the erstwhile leader, the floppy disk, because it has bigger memory storage. Add to that the fact that newer model of computers being introduced no longer has a floppy drive. Manufacturers have realized that it is not going to be as in demand as it was before so they slowly phased it out.

A third advantage is that the consumer can access his data in the CD in a much faster manner. This is a huge turn on for people who are always busy as a bee and can't afford any downtime for such delays. Last but definitely not the least, a compact disc is not that pricey. In fact, anyone can afford to buy it as any computer store.

Did you know that copying files from the computer to the CD and vice versa is easy that even a person with little know how on computers can do it? What is essential is that one should be very patient in learning the tools of the trade. He must also spend some time practicing so that he can master the job. Read on the next few paragraphs and see how this task can be accomplished without a sweat.

First of all, you must have a fully functional personal computer and a writable disc. Assess if your computer is printed with a Compact disc Rewritable logo. If it has, then you can start the job. Unfortunately, if it doesn't, you might need to buy one from a computer store or you can also download it from the portals of the internet.

Second, insert your disc into the CD drive. After it has settled down, look for the CD Drive Dialog box. Then, open the folder labeled open CD writable. After that, highlight all the text documents, numerous graphics and folders you want to copy to your CD. Using your mouse, perform the right click option and immediately go back to the window showing your blank CD. After you have made sure that all the files are listed in the folder of the blank CD, click and write those files to the CD. In a few seconds, a pop up window will come up and a box saying that it is the CD writing Wizard. This will be your opportunity to name or label your CD. By design, the wizard will commence with the process of file duplication.

If by some misfortune, a pop up window appears and claims that the CD writing process was not completed, try to remedy the problem by erasing some files. More often than not, it is just due to space constraint because you have way too much data on the disc. Go back to the CD writing wizard box and repeat all the steps mentioned above. Usually, if everything is okay, the process will be completed in just a few minutes. Sometimes, if you have very minimal files, it will be over in just a few measly seconds. However, if you happen to have heavy data like pictures and videos, then it could last longer, from 30 minutes up to an hour or so. If the screen shows that the task is completed, simply click the Finish button and eject the CD from your personal computer.

So there you have it, folks! CD copying made so simple that even a certified beginner will breeze through it. Enjoy copying your files!
