Everyone sees the daily journey as something very boring, but there are so many ways you can boost your commute that there is no need to worry about the length of the journey any more. All you really need is a bunch of things to divert yourself. Download a fun app where you can guess the celebrity, read a classic novel or perhaps get some work done - there are a great many techniques to have fun.
Music
Before leaving the house, add all of your favorite albums to your MP3 player. On your walk to the train station, or in your car you will love having some much loved tunes playing in your ear or on your car sound system. Maybe even set up a playlist full of inspiring songs for the day that will get you inspired on the way to work or tunes that can help you unwind on the journey home.
Books
Begin to read - it's superb for jacking up your vocabulary and is also regarded as a great conversation starter with other book lovers. If carrying heavy books around doesn't appeal to you, invest in a tablet or a Kindle which is light and enables you to carry tons of differing kinds of book around to suit whatever mood you're in.
Games
Whether or not it's having fun with a Sudoku book or playing game apps on your telephone, there are plenty of entertaining games and puzzles you can do on your commute from and to work. They are excellent for distracting you from the nerve-wrangling day ahead and can also help you relax on the journey home. Play classic games such as Solitaire, or try new ones where you can draw pictures or guess the celebrity for a bit of breezy fun.
Chatting
Catch up on your e-mails, text your mates or perhaps talk to the person next to you (this might be a scary concept if you are a London commuter). It passes the time and can actually make your commute more fun - most importantly it implies you can catch up with those people you have not spoken to in a while. If you're calling though, try hard not to be one of those individuals that has such a loud phone conversation that the full train carriage can hear!
Working
If you like your job, doing more work on your commute can really make it more fun! Once you have sat down on your train it is possible to get out your tablet, notebook or tablet and start typing up the minutes of the meeting you've just been in, entering info, emailing comrades or whatever else. OK, so the work itself might not be fun but if you can manage somehow to be more productive on your journey to and from work, then you may have more time for having a good time with your family at home.
Social Networks
A great way of killing some time (and of course having fun) is to get Facebook or Twitter up on your telephone or other handheld device and flick through your chums posts and tweets. You never can say, you may discover a stream of very amusing tweets that will keep you laughing all the way to work!
