Do you want to leave a history of your life for the next generation? Is there an aspect of your life you think will help others? Then perhaps you should consider writing a memoir about your life. This of course requires a lot of hard work and time. Whether you are famous or not, this option is available to you.

The reason why you are entering this process is important. It allows you to be more focuses, create and stick to a vision and ultimately motivates you to reach the end goal. There is never a single reason why people embark on this journey. It could be to provide some history for the next generation in your family or helping others go though their own tough times.

Your story should have a realistic time line that needn't have to space your whole life. It could be just concentrating on major events in your life and specific emotional turning points in your experience. These aspects make for good reading and they let the reader gain more insight and familiarity in the life you have led.

As the protagonist in the story, you are the one who steers the narrative. This means not straying away from your vision and including people and events that are unnecessary. Ultimately, you should just be yourself. Remember, it's important to describe what actually happened rather than what you feel should have happened.

There are a lot of things that could come out of this experience that you didn't anticipate. There may be incidents and experiences that are now quite hazy while others are very vivid. Either way, the effect can be very emotional. As difficult as this could possibly be, you need to be kind to yourself through this process and include how your felt along the way in your manuscript.

All books require a lot of research. The fact that this one is about you doesn't exempt you from this process. Your research process can include interviewing friends and family, revisiting places from your childhood or looking at old photos.

Are you a good writer? Have you ever had to write a book or story? If not, then writing a memoir can already be a daunting task for your. There are options available to alleviate some of these concerns. You could consider digitally recording your tale or alternatively use the skills of a good ghost writer, who will be able weave your story into a seamless product.
