Born in the small Victorian town of Creswick on the 22nd February 1879, Norman Alfred William Lindsay was fated to grown into an Australian icon and one of the countries most celebrated and controversial artists. His father was Robert Charles William Alexander Lindsay, a physician and his mother was Jane Elizabeth Lindsay. He had a total of 10 siblings among them four sisters and 5 brothers that included Percy and Lionel, also successful painters in their own right. His status as an artist has survived the trial of time and well into the 21st Century his works continue to be keenly searched after by both Australian and International art lovers alike. Norman possessed a great number of talents along with a mind that would certainly insight talk and debate regarding many of his political ideas and also how he pictured them in his paintings. Lindsay was a an individual with numerous artist abilities in addition to being highly successful as an oil painter, water-colourist, author, pencil drawer, cartoonist and sculptor.

Lindsay generated a massive amount of artworks in a number of media like oils, watercolours, etchings and pencil drawings. Norman Lindsay was also a proficient author and his kids book, The Magic Pudding, is actually still in demand nowadays. Yet definitely not all of his writings achieved well-accepted recognition, his book titled 'Redheap' had been forbidden for its controversial subject material. He additionally had two brothers and a sister that were artists also, later he and his brother, Lionel, moved to Melbourne to work for an alternative publication.

Changing careers, Norman and his brother went to work for the Sydney Bulletin. At the Bulletin their function was to turn out a range of cartoons and illustrations to go with publication stories. Norman Lindsay was married twice, his first spouse Catherine left him in 1909 and he remarried in 1920 to Rose who had been one of his models. Rose also moved into the function of his business manager, a position which she performed especially well. She oversaw his work and since Norman Lindsay was always moving onto his following piece after he completed one, she quickly accumulated an extraordinary collection a large amount of of which has now been preserved. Norman Lindsay Art can be spotted in various art galleries all through the globe as well as in numerous private collections. Dealers routinely offer a wide range of Norman Lindsay works of art and the significant demand has seen a solid increase in values over recent years. Norman Lindsay passed on in 1969 and will definitely appreciated as one of Australia's most significant and most controversial artists.
