Art in the skies. It is the Kansas University Art Museum which is showcasing photorealism which was a popular art movement in the 1970s. Setting apart pigment from celluloid is something that you need to master.

One artist, for instance, has painted his normal fare which is a horse. Carrying a model plane, one of the two brothers in the painting stands near a horse carrying his sister on its back. There was an artist who is really into old toys and so he made a piece where there is a floating plane in a bathtub and a car set beside a helicopter. For another artist, on an aquarium floor lay a small toy plane.
When you look at the exhibited pieces from these artists, you will really admire how well they used their knowledge when it comes to painting techniques as they captured the essences of the photographs they were working with. In order to enlarge their sketches for murals, Renaissance artists resorted to the use of grids and the same concept was utilized by several artists during the show.
There was a painting done of an air borne fighter jet. Painting is a way by which they can translate what they see onto a canvass and the use of clear, precise lines and color is evident here. Using tints of all sorts, basing his ideas from antique photographs, one artist decided to paint an air ship.
