Many find astral projecting to be something which is hard to do at first. While each and every one of us has this ability naturally, there are a number of things which can be stumbling blocks along the way as we try to become better at astral projecting. However, its like riding a bike " you havent forgotten how, you just need practice if you want to become expert at this technique.

A common challenge that people face when beginning astral projection is relaxation. In order to be successful at astral projection you have to be deeply relaxed in both mind and body. You are going to need to practice this. There are many techniques that you can use to help your mind and body relax. Both breathing and muscle relaxation techniques can be used.

To make relaxation easier, it always helps to make your environment relaxing. This lets you have a smoother transition to relaxation. A relaxing environment just makes the preparation process for astral projection easier. Here are some tips that you can use when you are getting yourself and your environment ready.

*Wear loose clothes or light clothing. Consider removing jewelry since the contact with skin can be distracting.

*You need a dimply lit or dark room for astral projecting - not so dark that you cant see anything, but certainly dark enough that you dont have light penetrating through your closed eyelids.

*Lying in a position where your head is to the north and your feet to the south is a perfect position. You should be able to figure out where north is by watching the sun as it rises in the east and sets in the west. Arrange the room so you can lie in this position.

*You should also make sure that you are completely comfortable. The temperature of the room should keep you comfortable and not too hot or too cold. You may want to adjust your clothing so that you are a good temperature.

*Choose a place for your astral projecting which is quiet, peaceful and free of distractions.

*You should be ready for relaxation now. You will be using the relaxation techniques to help you do this.

*Give yourself a mental suggestion so that you can remember what happens during your session. Simply telling yourself that you will remember can help. Have a pen and paper nearby so when you are finished you can record what you remember. Making records will be helpful to allow you to remember what happened.

*Slow your body down by taking deep breaths.

*Direct your gaze to a point of darkness directly a head of your eyes.

*Take your focus gradually to an object that is about a foot ahead of you. Once you have focused move your focus to about six feet away.

*Now create a line that runs from that point at six feet away parallel to your body. Go up from the point at a 90 degree angle and then create this parallel line.

Using these tips will help you get ready for the astral projection process. You should be aware that you need to be mentally in control of what is happening. You cannot go out of your body through astral projection without proper control. You will simply bounce around the astral planes without any control. You want control so you can go where you want and do what you want to do.

Some people who practice astral projection speak with dead loved ones or take part in activities that they cannot usually do. Physical limitations and other limitations simply do not exist on the astral plane. If you have ever had a dream where you have woke up and felt it was real then you probably were astral projecting. Now you have the chance to do it with intention and be in control over the process.
