Here's the basic trick, as it looks like to your spectators. You hold a standard deck of cards, and fan it out, like they would expect. Then you order them to pick a card, any card. They take card, and you tell them to study it vigilantly, and show it to their friends. After they position it back in the deck, you inexplicably pluck it right out. They will be amazed, and think you have powerful spiritual powers.

Here's how to do the caper. While they are busily studying their card, you divide the deck, and produce a place for them to put their card. All you need to do is take a immediate peak at the card that you will rest on top of theirs. Just keep in mind this card, and once they place there's in the deck, you'll know precisely what card comes after. There are quite a lot of ways to divulge this trick.
