The Ghost whisperer is one of the famous TV shows on the genre of drama in America. The series began in the year 2005. The main character of the story is Melinda Gordon which is played by Jennifer Love Hewitt. Melinda who is married recently lives in a small town and runs an antique store. She is at present trying to manage with her new marriage and also to run the shop along with the ghosts.
Melinda possesses an extraordinary power that she can talk to ghosts. These ghosts are nothing but the souls which are trapped in our world. She communicates with them to find out what had gone wrong and why have they been trapped in our world. And understands what had stopped them from moving to the next world. She also at times helps them though in spite of her work to send them to their world where they can be peaceful. Her power to speak with ghosts was obtained from her grandmother who taught her how to use the power.
One major thing which has attributed towards the success of the series is the casting of Jennifer love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon. She has done it excellently. One more thing is the plot of the episodes, it has been made to leave the viewers in gripping suspense that they don't even switch channels during commercials. And after each episode ends the series makes them expecting what comes next, this feature has contributed to its popularity.
Apart from some excellent role playing by Jennifer Love Hewitt, she has been supported extremely well by the other two main characters of the show which are those of Jim Clancy who is Melinda's husband and is played by David Conrad and the other is of Andrea Marino which is played by Aisha Taylor. Both these actors showcase top class acting skills and one usually never feels that they are watching a TV drama rather than a Hollywood movie.
However, having said all of the above things there are also a number of critics who don't like this show nor show any sympathy when making comments about it. One of the biggest criticisms by many critics and viewers is that Jennifer Love Hewitt's acting is pathetic and the only reason this show is so popular is because of her over exposed body. Also, many believe that the show follows the same sequence in each episode wherein a new ghost pops into Melinda's life and she goes around town looking for the solution and very conveniently always stumbles upon the answer.
