I need some help. I need to understand why you do the things you do. You're like the kid who puts his hand on the stove, but doesn't learn not to do it after the first time you get burned. Unlike most children, you continue to get put your hand on the stove over and over and burn away the hopes and dreams of all Cubs fans of any chance at a Cubs World Series during your time at the helm of the Cubs.

In the bullpen, you relentlessly insist upon using Kevin Gregg, despite the fact that he's having a blatantly unimpressive season and has blown us various games. Can't we find someone else for the closer role, or at least experiment a bit?

And then there's Carlos Marmol. A very talented pitcher, but one with very shaky control. Why would you put Marmol into the game in situations where bases are loaded or runners are in scoring position, and one of his walks could be a crippling blow that loses the team the game?

Marmol is a reliever, and has pitched less than half the innings of starting pitchers. Somehow, he's almost first in the majors in hit batsmen. Marmol was great last season, but pitchers lose their stuff sometimes. Marmol seems to have lost his this year.

While we do have a shallow bullpen in Chicago, you haven't made any moves to bolster its depth. A casual fan of the Cubs (even my daughter!) could point out the fact that the bullpen needs some strengthening. Another trade deadline has passed and nothing was done.

A lot of the media around Chicago is asking if you really want to or should be managing the North-Siders. I have had your back through the first two years you've been here, but now I just can't sit and watch your complete resistance to change. Even in your press conferences and interviews you look tired and like you don't give a s***. Your fire and passion is what made you such an effective manager for your whole career. It's time to decide whether you really want to do it anymore....
