As this specific type of music transcends its country of origin to be enjoyed in different parts of the world. A few things have come into the light, things that either was t made apparent then or those who rallied behind its call, unable to do anything to affect the status quo due to voices that could not be heard over the booming speakers that have made this genre of music like no other. Philadelphia Private Party Bands know hot make your event special, many female ladies recently are doing pretty good shows.

In a world filled with hypersexualized music and the bedrock for rape culture, it s good to see an element of femininity in a male-dominated industry and body of work. A breath of fresh air and talent from the stale, repetitive music that is out there no matter how many times its considered fresh.

Many people may find it hard to accept dancehall as reggae because they equate it to the likes of Bob Marley, Lucky Dube and so on and so forth. But the truth of the matter is that is only one facet of the genre, which many people do not know is known as roots reggae. But no matter which way we look at it, the genre does have an unsavury side, especially when you consider the era in which we live in filled with rights for all no matter what you choose to identify yourself as.

What s ironic is that in sub genres of reggae like dancehall, despite the degradation of the female form, they have always been and continue to be a key feature of the music, s they are often what lure men to the music in the first place.

According to Huck Magazine trends in this genre of music produce stark contrasts in the content of music that artists of the different sexes produce. Women predominantly preach a message of loving oneself and being comfortable in one s own skin. Males tend to emphasize how they look with strong references to shape.

In recent years, women who are committed to the genre have made strides in breaking down the barriers that have stunted their growth as performers in the past. And in doing so, are slowly turning the tides in the skewed male to female ratio of performers. With time it should level out if things continue to progress at the rate that they currently do.

The best example of this is by referring to such women as Delilah in songs. Equating her to the biblical figure who was viewed as a temptress and the source of Samson s downfall.

Reggae has had a past contrary to the message and music that has brought it to prominence, but as more and more if it is played through a different set of eyes. In the form of female entertainers, it is slowly changing what it means to be a reggae artist
