One would probably be familiar with beautiful fragile dolls that he would see in houses as decorations. Now most of these dolls are what is known as a BJD doll and is basically made out of balls and joints. Now if one is a fan of these kinds of dolls, it is actually possible for him to make one of these at home and customize it the way that he wants.
Now just like any creative endeavor, the first thing to do would be to create and conceptualize. Now in this part, it is best that one would first put down all his ideas in a notebook or a paper. So the very first step here would be to draw the doll and design it already before even starting the entire process.
After making a nice design, then the next thing one should do now would to be to buy the equipment. Now the main thing that one would be needing would be special clay known as Super Sculpey. Now Super Sculpey is the best in the market for this kind of project because it is the sturdiest.
Now before touching the Super Sculpey, it is important that one would first create the skeleton of the doll using some wires or materials like that. The thing that one has to do here would be to get some hard wires and create parts from these hard wires like the arms, the torso, the head, and the other parts. Do remember that these wires are hard to manipulate which means that one may need pliers.
Once this is done, then the next thing to do would be to put some masking tape on the edges of the pieces like the arms, legs, head etc. Now take note that the masking tape has to be put there so that a ball will form. When that is already done, then one has to now wrap the wire with some foil.
When he has already done that, then the next step is to add some of the Sculpey to the figure. Now the first thing he should do would be to put just a thin layer of Sculpey first on the parts. Just a thin layer of Sculpey will do for now.
After one has done this, then the next thing to do would be to build up the figure from there. In this step, one may add some Sculpey or reduce some of it in order to create the doll itself. It is also here that one will now be carving the face and adding some details on the body as well as some decorations to make it look nice.
The last step would be to now stick all the parts together. Now do take note that at the edge of the segments, there should be a ball where the masking tape was placed and a joint that it will connect to. Connect these pieces and bake them in the oven for a few minutes before taking it out and putting on the clothes.
