How much do you know about diesel hybrid cars? Does the word diesel make you think of following behind a big truck that stinks? Today's modern diesel fuel is much cleaner than it once was and is an extremely good choice in a vehicle for the environment. Cars and trucks that run on diesel fuel not only get excellent mileage but are not using up the earth's natural resources and are no longer loud, slow or stinky.

Hybrid vehicles are now being made everywhere or there are announcements of a new one coming out. The MPG now needs to be at least 27. 5 for any new product line of the manufacturer because of the price of fuel. The hybrid is getting better MPG because it is a bigger engine and it has more speed.

Putting the hybrid vehicle together with the diesel is a heavenly marriage of concepts. This is a new idea that is growing in popularity rapidly. Our oil supplies are diminishing so the worry is that in a couple generations there will be no oil supply left. Conservation is just the best game plan for now.

Diesel Hybrid Electrics have been the desired course of action for creating a more friendly option for the environment. The clean diesel engine of today combined with the mechanics of the hybrid-electric makes a unique vehicle that is conserving the oil supply, maintaining amazing mileage and helping to keep the air cleaner. For instance, the massive sedan is now carbon-neutral and can get at least 80 MPG.

The major automotive manufacturers have a line of the new diesel-electric hybrid cars including Chrysler, Ford and GM. Merging the power of the diesel engines with the effectiveness of the hybrid technologies makes for an impressive vehicle. MIT's Laboratory for Energy and Environment did a specialized study that compared the use of the hybrid, fuel cell vehicles, eventual disposal and fuel production. The diesel hybrid cars proved the best option for vehicles over the engines needing gasoline.

The findings of the MIT analysis were based on petroleum-based diesel fuel. Today diesel engines use a fuel that does not have petroleum called biodiesel. This kind of new fuel is created from plants and is totally synthetic. The plants used for the vehicles in Europe are canola/rapeseed while soy plants are used for the vehicle's fuel in the Untied States. Being there is no petroleum it makes this fuel carbon-neutral.

In the larger cars today you will see the use of the diesel hybrid. With the power and the speed of the diesel engine and the conservation of fuel from the hybrid system that depends on its electric motor while idling or accelerating in stop and go kind of traffic, the vehicle has an excellent performance level.

Just to mention a few of the diesel hybrid cars that are available now you will see the DiamlerChrsler with its '100 Dodge Ram hybrid electric vehicle diesel pickup', and the 'Audi Q7 3. 0 TDI' by Volkswagen and the Mercedes-Benz with its 'ML320 BlueTec'. The 'Opel Astra Diesel Hybrid' with its duo electric motors made by GM that reaches 59 MPG.

Automotive makers today are using the concept of the diesel hybrid cars to deal with the ever increasing strict emission standards that get more intense as the years go by. They are finding that using the combination of the diesel engine with the electric motor is sheer genius.
