Though a shining car is what everyone wants, caring for a car is rather tough. If your aim is to make your car appear fresh or make it survive longer or even get a decent price when you resell it, then you will have to spend some time and effort on taking care of it.

As a result of prolonged usage, the car gets spoiled by scratches and stains giving it a lack-lustre appearance, particularly if its existing paint is slowly fading off. A full-fledged car care routine including car wash, waxing, and car polishing can restore the look of your vehicle.

The first stage is to remove all the dirt on the car by cleaning it with a good cleansing liquid and water, after which you have to put a layer of either car wax or polish on the body. There exists a great amount of confusion among car owners about when the car needs to be polished and when to use car wax. It is important for you as a car owner to have a fair idea of what treatment your car requires.

The car can attain a sparkling and glossy appearance when you use car wax, which usually contains a wax derivative called carnauba. However, car waxes lack abrasive agents and so they cannot remove the more prominent stains. In addition, they are not capable of withstanding harsh sunlight.

However, car polishes contain materials like Teflon, which make them stay long on your car, giving it a fresh appearance that lasts forever. Polish is also much more successful in covering stubborn marks and scratches.

When polishing the blend edges, work away from the edge. Hand glaze the blend edge. It is more recommended than machine polish. When you have to hand glaze, always a cloth that is soft and be sure it is clean for both the coating and when taking the glaze off.

As a thumb rule, if your car is constantly exposed to the daily grind on dusty roads, car polishing is the ideal solution. Car wax provides your car with a short-term gloss for certain occasions, but it is not a very good protection on a regular basis. Therefore, you have to figure out the requirements of your car taking into account its make and your lifestyle, and then adopt a solution that not only gives your car a brand new appearance but also makes it suitable for long term use.
