There are several reasons as to why some abstract art products end up being extremely expensive. Many people would expect the products of art genre in question here to be quite cheap, as they are largely 'the products of the artists' own minds.' The shock induced by expensiveness of all abstract art genre products is enormous, because we tend to believe the opposite, we tend to believe that mainstream art is more valuable while in fact abstractions are priced higher. They seek an explanation for this phenomenon, because truth be told, there are folks who believe that art products from the abstract genre should be one rung below the rest: and hence cheaper.

The folks who practice this form of art, that is, the artists who produce artistic items of an abstract nature, on the other hand believe that their products are as good as those of other art genres, if not better. They therefore see no justification in selling their products at a lower price, just because they are 'abstract.' However, we will try to come up with a logical answer for all of the folks out there seeking answers to why abstract art products are priced so high. We can share at least three grounds for that.

One of the three reasons to explain how come abstract art products are really costly products is the total amount of money required to create that product. Most of the times, the preparation of certain art products involves using a canvass. If you give it a close look, you will notice that the canvasses used by these artists are of the highest quality, thus being the most expensive ones. Considering paintings, high-priced top quality paint is used in most (if not all) cases. Painting on high quality canvass with high quality paint makes no sense without using high quality, expensive brushes and tools. There are a lot of costs involved if you take a look at all of the tools and materials used in the production process. The artist has to sell the resultant product, abstract or not, at a high price, in order to recoup the cost and be in a position to make another product.

The second reason as to why some abstract art products end up being extremely expensive is in the fact that very much time is invested in their production. You have to keep it in mind that most of these abstract products are created through a painstaking manual process, which can be very time consuming and energy sapping. If the artist is to be motivated to spend similar time and energy in the future to produce a similar product, he or she has to sell the resultant product at a reasonably high price.

The expertise of each artist in such work is the last of the three reasons to explain the expensiveness of abstract art products. Getting your artistic work to the commercial market is a very hard thing to achieve. Only first-class artists have managed to get to that point. Since an enormous amount of talent is needed to create valuable artistic work, it's not too simple for any artist to reach that level. Reasonably costly abstract art products thus have a well-justified price.
