With the recent developments in digital photography, many people nowadays have found it easier to take pictures. Advancements in the field of photography have given hobbyists and professional photographers alike the opportunity to experiment to deliver quality photographic images. But among other factors, photographers must develop their ability to control and manipulate light when taking pictures. After all, light is the most essential element in photography.

The two ideal times of the day to create dramatic photo shoots are during the morning and before sunset. However, you can create various effects for indoor, underwater, or nighttime photo shoots by using artificial lighting. There are different types of lighting you can employ in photography to achieve the specific effect that you want.

Video Lighting In Photography

Weddings are one of the best occasions during which photography is deemed indispensable. In creating a romantic feel for the couple's photos, a video light can be utilised. Unlike with flash, which can give a very strong and unflattering effect, video lighting is ideal for studio portraits. Whether you're conducting your photo session in a dim place or in a huge studio, you will find it helpful to use video light as it offers a wide range of lighting.

Underwater photography requires proper lighting, too, especially when you are some metres below the sea surface. With a handheld underwater video light, you don't have to worry about illuminating the surroundings to capture interesting colours of various species of fishes, corals and crustaceans.

Other Photography Techniques Using Video Light

Though video lights create very strong light at maximum capacity, the level of lighting can be easily adjusted. You can place a gel in front of an LED video light to produce a warm or tungsten effect. Likewise, you can control the diffuser --which is commonly present in LED video lights-- to achieve soft photo effects. Take note that this lighting equipment is compatible with other lighting tools like flashguns and speed lights which you can use for certain photography techniques.

It's also possible to achieve varied lighting effects by placing the equipment in different positions during the shoot. For instance, if you would like to create flare in the photo, position it beneath your subject and as you take a shot, make sure that only a part of the light is visible in the photo.
