The desire of every person is to put the best foot forward on the day of competition. However, some dancers are not sure of exactly what they should do to make sure that their bodies are strong enough on the day of competition. The fact remains you cannot afford to eat every sweet food that comes your way. Proper feeding is good for your health and also will ensure you feel good while on stage which is an important aspect when participating in dance competitions.

It is important to take time to feed in the right way during the week before the competition day. Start by having a plan. Jot down the number of times your will be practicing and organize to have a balance diet food with lean protein, healthy fat, and wholesome carbohydrates. Spread your meals throughout the day, and eat little when going to bed.

It is also important to get prepared. Ensure that the food you include in your plan is easily accessible. In case there is new type of food you would want to include in your list, avoid including it on the last day. Consider trying new meals a week before the big day. You would not want to go to the competition with stomach upsets.

You should also get to understand your body. For many people, anxiety about the awaiting performance may make it challenging for them to eat. You need to come up with a plan that you are confident of. Remember that everything starts in the mind.

It is possible for you to eat in a hurry due to anxiety. This is because during the last week to the competition day, time seems to run very fast. You may find yourself with too much to do and little time to do it. However, you should give yourself at least thirty minutes to eat your meals. This will help prevent bloating, indigestion and gas.

After proper feeding, you should also make sure that you take enough fluids. Water is very important to keep your metabolism balanced. The last thing you want is to experience constipation during the big day. However, do not make the mistake of taking too much water or drinks few minutes before the time of competition.

During the last week, it is better to prepare your meals at home. This will assure you that you will take healthy meals. You may also need to take your food with you as you travel. However, in case you happen to eat in hotels, be careful of the food that you eat. Avoid giving into cravings that could lead to unhealthy feeding.

Finally, make sure that you give your body plenty of rest. A busy week of dancing may be both physically and mentally draining. You need to get eight hours of quality sleep every day to keep your body strong and energetic. You should also avoid stimulants such as energy drinks, and caffeine that may alter your sleep.
