The idea of singing has been in the mind and instinct of human beings. Since the Neanderthals had risen out from caves, man has sung. Back then though, this was done in an imitation to various sounds that the environment around them produces. Inspired by the beautiful sounds a bird makes and how nice they sound singing, people decided to take it up as the love for it grew and grew over time.

Singing itself is the act of making music through the use of ones voice by the use of several different vocal techniques. A person who is called a singer is also called a vocalist and often times participate in vocal competitions to show off the talent and training that has had by this person. Often times in competitions, it is only done a solo act without any accompaniments.

In singing though, there are different ways to perform and enjoy it. Two examples of this is doing an formal and informal kinds of singing. The more formal way would be when a person is performing in front of a crowed and is expected to entertain them and make them feel the power of the song. The other one is called informal, and as its name implies, these are done in private and when with family and friends were there is no one to judge if its bad or not.

Another place were one can start to sing is within the confines of a church. The songs that are done in here are usually devotion and worship songs that is meant to appease the god above. Most singers do it solo but in church, a choir is what usually sings for everybody present. Many songs in the middle ages where made and song to worship the lord.

But the most fun way of singing though, is when it is done as a hobby. This is when the quality of ones voice is not taken very seriously and is only often with friends and family that this kind is done because there would be no one to judge is the voice done by the singer is bad or not. The hobby of singing is so popular that many machines were made in order for people to sing and perform at home.

If a singer is serious in improving in order to gain a professional aspect of it, various things are needed to reach the pinnacle. Practice with dedication and time are needed to improve and these are the minimum that is needed from practicing. For more improvement, hiring a vocal coach is very ideal and taking vocal lessons will play an important part in improving the overall quality of the voice.
