The consequence of music lessons in the development of IQ in kids is still unclear, with numerous arguments on the topic existing. There are parents who believe that their babies will grow up smarter if they play classical music while they are asleep, thanks to a research held in the '90s that said listening to Mozart classical music can enhance one's spatial reasoning. Lots of parents are giving their children music classes as early as possible because the general perception today is that music helps children become more intelligent, even though there are studies about the subject that generated other outcome.

Others dispute that it is not easy to gauge the progress of IQ by just adding music lessons to the children's curriculum since there are many conditions that affect one's intelligence quotient. Just studying its impact to those who have classes in music will not ensure steady results. The children who have parents who can usually afford music lessons most likely belong to the socioeconomic class that usually has higher IQ average than the others who can't pay for the lessons. It may also be that kids are naturally in the age where they pick up curiosity in many things and open their minds to learning.

Parents give their children music lessons because of the positive impact it brings. The effects of studying music to the improvement of children's IQ are still disputable, but the benefits are undeniable.

Music lessons for kids can help them direct their restless energy into something constructive. For preschool kids particularly, they can find musical programs physically fulfilling and mentally enriching, allowing them to discover their surroundings through music and absorb information in an enriching and pleasing means.

And while music programs for little kids are generally entertaining and lively, they also compel kids to concentrate and practice memorization. The training can help kids develop their interest in music or even in other stuff also. They are also good early training ground before the little ones start attending school.

Some mothers and fathers think that music lessons at a young age can make their children music prodigies. However, it doesn't always work that way. These programs don't automatically make kids stars, but they do much more, like exposing children to music, boosting their self-esteem, and assisting them in finding their interest.
