If you're struggling to find the perfect Christmas gift for that race-car enthusiast in your life, don't feel you have to resort to stock-standard car trinkets, books and DVDs again. Give them the chance to visit the Silverstone track and race a car around the circuit at high speeds. There are a range of race-car experiences available to choose from, and there's also bound to be one near you. That wannabe Lewis Hamilton will be absolutely over the moon; there really is no greater gift than giving someone the chance to fulfil their dreams - even if just for one day.

Should the big Lewis Hamilton fan in your life be a teen, then they can still enjoy the hands-on racing car experience with a Silverstone Rookie Drive. There are also packages for the whole family, such as rally driving, which makes a great day out for everyone.

Kids and parents can take part in classes at the Silverstone Rally School, to learn difficult racing car techniques, and then try them out in a dual-controlled car. Alternatively, there's a racing car simulator which lets you experience the Formula 1 race from the driver's seat, without having to get out on the road.

There is a vast range of car racing experiences on offer at tracks around the country from Towcester to Rockingham. Fast car enthusiasts can test their driving skills in a classic Aston Martin, put their foot down in a powerful Porsche, go from 0-60mph in less than five seconds and complete nine laps in a Lotus Exige.

One such option is the Awesome Foursome package, which is perfect if you are not quite sure which racing car your Formula 1 friend will want to drive. This experience gives them the chance to try a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, a Porsche, and an Aston Martin! They might come out with a new favourite car, and will definitely have a day out to remember.
