The independent film circuit is a very rich and sometimes overlooked one each year. Sometimes the most popular and meaningful films that this circuit turns are the original documentaries. The indie documentary is thought by most as a great tool for looking into some revealing truth. We will take a look at one of the most popular indie documentaries from this year "Countdown to Zero".

For a documentary to become popular, it has to have the type of theme that both catches they eye and seems through provoking. This film is definitely no exception here. The concept of this movie deals with the threat of nuclear attack that looms despite the fact that the cold war has been done for quite some time. So many critics consider such a picture to be a nice wake up call.

The best indie documentary films will have a lot of footage that interviews very respected as well as prominent professionals, for a level of insight into various topics. This film does just that by providing plenty of quality interviews. Not only are we treated to the view point of world leaders like Tony Blair but we are also treated to extensive interviews between the film makers and security experts as well.

Like a lot of very popular indie films, this picture had it's world debut at the ever popular 2010 Sundance festival. Such a festival provides film gurus a chance to wait in snow bound lines for a chance to buy tickets to the next popular indie film. It is very important to consider that some of the most successful indie features of all time have debuted here.

The film opened to some pretty positive reviews that highlighted some of the highest points that it has to offer. This film has been associated with being one that is very informative yet not "too preachy" in it's presentation. We all know that some documentaries have an over preaching tone as their weakness. This film did not fall into that negative stigma however.

The film had a decent theatrical run on what is called the art house cinema circuit. Such theaters are the perfect place for cinema enthusiasts to see popular festival films that they would of otherwise missed. The theatrical distribution of this picture was performed by Magnolia pictures, an art house distributor that is ever growing in popularity.

Some film goers might not take the time to consider the fact that so many art house films have went on to achieve great success. Some of theme achieved this by being picked up by major league studio distributors for a successful nation wide run. Others have done this by having quite the after life on cable television networks. Such things have happened time and time again.

After reading this review, you might have a little bit better of an idea whether or not you would be interested in tracking down this film called "Countdown to Zero". Such films work so very hard to shed a light of honesty that is not sometimes found within the mainstream industry. This might be the perfect film for introducing some people to art house product.
