The island of Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands at 727.2 sq . and is the 17th biggest island in the united states. Maui is part of the state of Hawaii and is the largest of Maui County's four islands.

Having 120 miles of shoreline, Maui features over thirty miles of stunning beaches. On these world renowned shores you will find white, black and red sand beaches, famous surfing and windsurfing spots as well as several of the finest beaches on earth. The island of Maui is home to many of the most amazing beaches. Some beaches provide swimming all year long, while others are best for surfing or snorkelling during certain times of the year. The majority are simply accessible beach parks with lifeguards, picnic amenities and toilets. Others are pristine, "hidden spots" located away from the beaten path. Depending on where you choose to stay, there are usually some well-known beaches in the area.

West Maui beaches

If you drive on the west coastline of Maui from Lahaina to Kapalua, you are going to discover numerous amazing beaches along the coastline. Kaanapali Beach will offer you more than three miles of pristine sand with a range of watersports, which includes surfing, sailboating, and even catamaran rides. On the north end of the beach is Black Rock, which is renowned for snorkeling.

Tourists prefer the sandy beach at Napili Bay, since there are no high rise buildings around, and the bay is protected properly from waves. The Kapalua Resort in west Maui hosts Kapalua Beach, Oneloa Bay Beach, and the D.T. Fleming Beach.

South Maui Beaches

The rule with Hawaii and Maui is that the further south you go, the not so crowded the beaches will probably be. Kihei provides you with a number of beaches on the six mile shoreline, a few even providing lifeguards, restrooms, and picnic areas. Polo Beach and Wailea Beach offer both restrooms and equipment rentals. Or, if you need a much quieter beach, you must check out Maluaka Beach at the Maui Prince Hotel - where it's also possible to encounter a few green sea turtles.

A couple of miles past the Maui Prince Hotel is the Big Beach of Makena, which is one of the finest beaches on Maui. As the name implies, the beach is pretty huge, and on top of that - vacant. There is white sand, picnic facilities, and also bathrooms.

East Maui Beaches

The beaches of East Maui are unlike others in Hawaii. Surrounded by lush landscapes, the beaches are quiet, beautiful, and extremely colorful. Hamoa Beach is really a must visit if you are planning to see East Maui. As you approach the beach from the main road, you will walk past colorful vegetation and palms surrounding Hamoa Beach. Just off Hana Highway is Hana Bay Beach, which offers black volcanic sand.

The Red Sand Beach is tough to access; you'll have to locate a narrow route along the coast. The beach presents lots of floating around and snorkeling, and you should be the only person there - which is ideal for people seeking privacy. Even though it can be hard to get to, Red Sand Beach is really unique.
