What materials are being used when building a public structure is vital. This can be a matter of public safety. Durability and other properties are very sought after. One reason why quarrying is very popular is for getting minerals such as limestone.

There is a lot of controversy around quarrying but for businesses and those in the same industry, there is a need to constantly acquire such a useful resource. Limestone road base is one favorite function along with pipe bending and slab filling. These are only some of the many structures it is used for.

When it comes to road building, lime as a foundation makes sure that the asphalt does not sink and cause pot holes. Lime as a base makes sure of this and provides both durability, efficiency and comfortable by keeping the surface smooth and flat. It usually comes in crushed form when mixed and combined with other materials.

As an aggregate these are also used for bending underground pipes. With its versatility, it can support the structure since it does not expand nor does it contract, preserving the shape and the overall integrity of the pipe. It can isolate the pipeline from elemental factors such as moisture and soil movement caused by the traffic and movement above the road.

Its versatility is one of the most sought after properties among aggregate. This is why quarrying is a huge industry. They produce so much of this stuff to sell to construction industries in the expense of damage to the environment. A matter of construction and aesthetic this type of aggregate combines it flexibility in color, shaping and as mentioned earlier, durability.

The quarries make this widely available. Since it is a naturally occurring sedimentary rock, it can be easily accessed for any project. Since the supply of the resource is high it becomes affordable. With all its already mentioned benefits, its affordability makes it very consumer friendly especially for big scale construction projects.

Lime is also quite aesthetically versatile. It does not only limit its colors to pale white to light yellow. Some colors of its colors vary from red, brown, black and blue when mixed with other compounds. It also makes great for customized construction uses since it is very easy to cut. While its surface might be corrosive, a limestone structure will stay intact, essentially. A great example for this are the great Pyramids of Egypt.

Stabilization of the soil as a foundation is probably the biggest reason why this is used so much in construction. Lime helps improve plasticity, speeds up the drying of wet soil and increase overall foundation strength. The finished structures made of this is sure to be safe and easy to work with for those who are on the project site.

Even residential construction use this, not only for its affordability but also for how it is up to par with other materials like granite and marble. When compared to those ones, limestone can be more durable even. Customization also comes easy with this material since it is easy to cut, mix with cement and concrete.
