It did not take long for motorcycle LED lights to become the standard option when buying a brand new bike. Of course they started as an aftermarket choice and then a customization option from the factory but after a couple years of gaining in popularity they became a standard. Now almost every bike has them, just depends on who you buy from.

It is already hard enough for most drivers to see a motorcycle on the road, especially at night. Add to this the fact that some of the drivers on these bikes do not obey the standard traffic laws and like to drive fast, and you have a recipe for disaster. There are however a majority of drivers who do obey the traffic laws and they are still getting into accidents because someone could not see them.

The reason they are safer is because other vehicles are able to see the bike from farther away now. When the red lights of the bike's tail are so bright that you can tell it is a motorcycle that means that you, as a car driver, will take the appropriate action to avoid hitting the bike. This was always a problem before LED.

The LEDs burn much brighter than the older models and because of that brighter light on the front of the bike, people driving cars have a much easier time spotting them. This is also true for the tail as well. The brighter the lights the better oncoming traffic can see you on the bike and that means that you are much safer.

All of these things mean more drivers of bikes on the road and more chances for them to become involved in accidents. Sure, there are a fair number that take place that have nothing to do with other vehicles, but there are still more every year that involve multiple vehicle crashes. Motorcycles are hard to see, that is just a fact.

As they became a safer option on the road more and more people started to become riders. People who often wanted one but stayed away from them because of their danger factor were not convinced that they were safe enough to drive. Of course the added advantage of increased gas mileage also helped because gas prices were on the rise. When you could triple the miles driven versus a car it made perfect sense to ride a motorcycle to work.

Summer months meant people were getting their cycles out of storage or their garage and if they did not already have LED lights they were installing them on their own. It made perfect sense since their invention and their ease of installation. New aftermarket parts dealers were getting into the act and selling them as well.

That being the case you end up with an accident because the driver of the car could not properly judge the distance. Had motorcycle LED lights been used they would have been bright enough for the car driver to realize that it was indeed a cycle and not another car. Proper lane judgement would have taken place and an accident could have been averted.
