Dogs can be fierce, but they are also very friendly. They are also very intelligent and thus can be used not only for security, but also as pets that can run a few errands around the house. When you are looking for a good breed, it is always advisable to go for a pedigree because they are hardy and portray well-defined characteristics. When searching for purebred bulldogs for sale, ensure that use the tips given below.

Check the coat. The coat of a pedigree bulldog should relatively short. It should be straight, smooth, and level, without any rough sections. The fur usually has a fine text and almost flat on the body. You can get a good feel by running your hand along its edge.

Temperament is also another way of checking whether the puppy is a pedigree. If you have lived closely with dogs, you will easily tell the difference. A bulldog should have a moderate temperament: not docile and not aggressive unless provoked. It also likes to be given too much attention, which is good if you are looking for a pet.

The puppies need to be raised in a social environment around kids so that they can learn to be friendly with humans. Dogs raised in captivity are normally too aggressive and are generally suitable for security duties. The breed also shows significant signs of separation anxiety; hence should not be left alone for a prolonged period. It will howl and bark a lot if left lonely.

Despite the gentleness, it has a contrasting temperament. It can display a controlling behavior. This means that unless it has a firm handler, it may be quite difficult to deal with. Nevertheless, it does great with a loving family. With the right training, the bulldog can function exceptionally well as a guard dog.

You need to understand the care requirements of the dog. Like every pet, it requires regular grooming. A soft rubber brush will do just fine in removing the broken or dead hair. You just need to comb the coat gently. You should also bath it occasionally, as it shreds fur averagely. A damp washcloth should be used to wipe under the skin fold and for cleaning the mouth.

When you are a new owner, you may not understand clearly the health requirements of the dog. Ordinary checkup is required; however, if you notice any unusual signs such as sulkiness, you should have a vet look at it. This way, any problem can be detected early and treated in good time.

Most breeders will give you a detailed health history of the puppy. However, if the breeder is trustworthy, he/she should provide at least a one-year warranty. They should also have the registration papers for the pedigree cataloging. Ensure that it has been dewormed, vaccinated, and taken for all vet visits.

Ensure that you are given the care requirements. You should give the puppy just as much attention you would to a toddler. This will ensure that it gets a healthy start in life.
