Nestled in the small county of Ogemaw is Rose City. This is a small town in Michigan, located in the northwestern part of the state. It has scenery out of a story book. Small shops are located throughout the town. You can buy anything from small, unique goods to groceries to accompany you on your tour.

While this town was founded by Allen S. Rose in 1875 it was not incorporated until 1905. Originally it was known as Churchill but eventually it was renamed after Allen Rose. Ultimately a railroad started to go through the town, which helped with its incorporation. Allen Rose was originally from New York City but he traveled to Michigan and decided to stay.

There is a population of around 653 people, with the average age being 44.6 years of age. The main income of the town is from the small businesses as well as manufacturing. The main supporting factories are plastics, auto parts and machinery.

Luckily located under three miles from city limits is this beautiful recreational area. This is comprised of pure wilderness. It is located in a State Forest, which is 4,449 acres. This is a great tourist area for people visiting to travel too. They have many fun activities including, but not limited too; fishing, hunting, swimming, biking, hiking, boating, cross-country skiing and canoeing. While this area used to be private for hunting and fishing it was made public in 1963.

Just imagine taking your family down this beautiful river. Watching the fish swim beneath your boat. You could take a relaxing canoeing trip or just boat down the river without all the stress of daily life. This would be a great time to listen to nature, the wind through the trees and have the breeze gently kiss your face. You could become one with the outside world, really connect back to where you came from.

There is also a 70 acre lake where paddle boats can be rented and you can enjoy this amazing opportunity to be on the water. Also not far from this area, only about 30 minutes, you can find other stores to shop at.

Conveniently located in this town are several auto shops. These included paint, repair, collision, and places to buy new and used cars. So there are no worries if something happens while you are visiting!
