One of the biggest challenge facing new artists is bringing out creativity in their art. New water color artists usually find it very difficult to draw inspiration from their souls as they set out. At this time, they are usually preoccupied with painting techniques, and this lowers their creativity. As much as knowing the techniques is important, drawing should be subject to creative imagination.

When painting anything, it is vital that you observe the subject. You have to internalize the thing that you want to draw. Spending a lot of time in areas that inspire you helps a lot in landscape painting. It makes it easier to transfer your vision and thoughts to the canvas.

You are encouraged to visit the place you wish to paint. Do not forget to carry important accessories such as pencils, eraser and papers. The greatest way of internalizing the scene is to begin by drawing sketches of the place. Doing so helps to create a mental image of the place. Consequently, it becomes easier transfer the image in your mind to the painting paper.

One helpful tool that you can carry is a camera. Photos of the area can be of great help, providing the template of that which you wish to paint. In order to get a holistic overview, the photos should capture different angles and distances. As you make your way back you will have the photographs and the sketches to use.

Watercolor painting of an area on spot can be daunting to beginners. The scenes might appear to be constantly changing. Sometimes you may be forced to place the painting paper at certain angle, or even constant balancing and measuring paper saturation with the water paint. Making deliberate effort to avoid complex scenes is the best way of solving such teething problems. You can proceed to complex ones slowly as you better your skills.

On location painting does not require that you ship the entire studio out. This is one thing most starters have to be made aware of. They usually carry several unnecessary tools which actually do not need at all. The tools end up turning into a real nuisance.

You must be aware that outdoors are quite unpredictable. There can be an instant switch from sunny to rainy weather. Thus you have to develop speed and accuracy in painting. You first do the huge blocks prior to filling in the finer details. Majority of painters start with the sky as the first big block. It is normally paler than other areas. This allows you to paint lighter areas first as you move to darker areas. Painting of the sky also dictates how other parts are to be painted.

The stuff in the foreground need fine detail. However do not attempt to paint every little thing you see. It will consume a lot of your time as well as shift the focus of your areas of interest you want to bring out. Amid all these considerations, do not forget use your imagination and creativity. Water color artists doing landscape art will always benefit from these tips
