A turban is a clothing used as a head covering. They have been used by people from different regions of the world mainly by inhabitants of Eastern countries and the northern part of Africa. Wearing them has different meaning in the different religious and cultural groups. Yellow turbans and style varies from one region to another.

A turban is used to cover the heads so as to keep long beards. They use them to prevent themselves from been identified. After the September attack everyone who covered their heads with this clothing was mistaken to be a terrorist and there was massive abuse of Muslims and Sikhs who had their heads covered with this piece of cloth and had long beards mainly in America. They were believed to have a connection to the mastermind of the terrorist.

One of the groups that have used this clothing widely is the religious leaders. It is a feature that has been used to distinguish them from the rest of the people. They have also embraced it for the purpose of creating equality among their members. Still it is used to ensure their heads are well groomed and eliminate dirt.

The renowned Sikh religious leaders in a bid to eliminate the class system that promoted inequality among Indians allowed every leader to cover their heads with this clothing which was originally worn by those in the high class only. This was a way of recognizing them. Leader who wears the turban are recognized by citizens.

Turbans have varying designs and styles. To the leaders some styles and designs are for joyous events like engagements and wedding occasions. Other features are mainly for the young. In religious occasions you will find people wearing the same designs so as to deliver a certain message.

The pieces of cloths used to cover the head that have camouflage patterns are for people in the military. In some religions the colors do not have any significance. One will choose the ones they prefer.

The nomadic tribes that live in Sahara desert used these pieces of clothing to cover their heads so as to keep off from dust due to the sand which is blown up by the heavy winds in the desert. Their color was also used to identify a community. This is in order to make it easier for leader to identify their people.

In most cases individual first wear a cap then the cloth is used to cover it. In the Muslim world the yellow turbans and make differs from one location to another. A green head covering shows a good life after death. White signifies holiness, and purity, the cloths that the leader uses also has the same color. In the western countries you will hardly get a Muslim in this head covering only a few do wear them. Iranian leaders have been wearing them for years actually this form of clothing is believed to have originated from the inhabitants of Iran the Persians.
