Going to your first Star Wars convention could be a little odd. Naturally, it isn't every day that you are in a big room packed with adults who are all dressed up in outfits from a particular collection. However, no matter how peculiar it seems like, it is also loads of fun. I also have a collection of Bibles for Children when I was still a kid.
I have had more fun at the Star Wars conventions I have gone to than almost anywhere else. The costumes, the exhibits, the stars, and of course the Star Wars collectibles all lead to an exciting time that is almost virtually out of this world.
The secret to making the most of Star Wars conventions is to just roll with it. Lots of people feel self-conscious about getting in to it initially. It appears a bit strange to try and get into character - particularly when there are likely to be no less than fifty people around you dressed up as the same character. Still, you should try to feel comfortable doing it.
You will have a greater time if you allow the entire illusion role-play part of it overwhelm you and dive in to it.
In fact, the whole point of the thing is to immerse yourself in the Star Wars world. It's no pure coincidence that the show has received the staying power that it has. Even before they produced the most recent three movies, there were those who had read the books, memorized the dialog, and adored the original trilogy from the very beginning.
Star Wars provides people a simpler world without the moral complexities that we need to deal with. It provides a universe of right and wrong where an evil empire is being inhibited by a morally pure and also righteous revolt. There is no need to worry about complicated shades of meanings. It is all right there for you.
Visiting Star Wars conventions allows you to be around people who can really understand and figure this out. It is such a good get away, particularly if done in the company of other like-minded fans. You can be anyone you would like to be, whether good or evil, incidental or central.
People will love you for who you are as well as for who you're pretending to be. In a sort of nerdy, unusual way, it's a piece of paradise. And also if it's not your scene, it still may be worth considering just to view the strangeness of it all.
