Rakeback is a term that many on-line poker players are not familiar with. These are the fees that a person pays for each pot that is played on a poker game. A person playing poker for several hours per day, or playing several tables, can spend a lot of money on the rake of the games they play.

The rake on a game is usually not very high, about five percent on the pot with a maximum of $3 being the cap paid by a player. However, if an individual plays poker for several hours a day, and on multiple tables, this can quickly add up. The term "rake" was coined from the fact that fees can "rake" up very quickly for many players.

Poker sites have different ways of calculating the rake for each pot. Some figure the rake based on the amount of the pot and number of people at the table. Other website figure the rake on the number of people who are actually playing for the pot and the amount of the pot. In either case the amount of rake paid is normally almost the same.

Participating in a rakeback plan, a player can get some of the pot fee back. Rakeback websites receive from 35-45% of the rake from on-poker sites. A player registered with the site receives a percentage of the money that has been collected from these sites.

Each rakeback website works with specific on-line poker sites. The rakeback website shows a list of on-line poker sites, their percentage of rake, and other information that will help the player. They also show any promotion, tournaments, or contests that are being held on that site and the amount of money that is available to players.

Many poker websites also offer bonus to players for registering and participating in games. These bonuses are given to players when they make a deposit. In some cases the bonus will match the deposit invested up to a certain amount. Any money invested over the bonus amount automatically receives the maximum bonus offered. Rakeback includes this bonus in the amount of money that is paid out from their site.

There are many incentives offered when one registers with a rakeback website. Some of these sites only work with on-line poker sites offering rakeback and bonuses through the site. An individual playing poker on one of these sites will receive rakeback from the on-line poker site and rakeback from the rakeback website. Working with a rakeback website offers one the advantage of finding the highest paying on-line poker sites that offer maximum earning potential.

Many on-line poker players are unaware of rakeback and lose the opportunity to get money from playing on-line poker even when they lose. One will want to include registration with a rakeback provider when they are considering playing on-line poker.
