If you are taking private lessons to learn guitar, you know they are not cheap. And getting the best teacher is sometimes a crapshoot. Another option you have is to learn electric guitar online, and you should check out the various websites that have lessons.

But do your homework first because although there are a number of sites to learn electric guitar online, not all of them are alike. Some are only for beginners, while others are geared towards more advanced players. And the best ones offer actual step by step video instruction. These video lessons should also be geared toward your current skill level.

Another cool feature of online lessons is that it is easy to skip ahead to lessons geared to your skill level if you have mastered the beginner lessons.

I bought my guitar about a year ago and after trying to play for a few weeks, I gave up. But then one day I heard one of my favorite songs and I got that itch again. The irresistible urge to pick my guitar and start rocking. But, soon enough, I put it down thinking it was just too hard to learn.

This was me, and I bought tons of books and DVD's before turning to the Internet to learn electric guitar online. It is so much easier (and cheaper) than sitting there reading a book to learn.

What I figured out was that the cost to join one of the better sites was roughly 50 cents a day. I already spend $3 a day on coffee, so 50 cents was nothing. For 50 cents a day, I could be playing my favorite songs instead of just listening to them! And the cool thing is, you can learn on your time from anywhere you have an internet connection.

Some even offer a printout copy for reference and study, allowing you to keep it as reference whether you continue your membership or not. Another huge plus is the enormous chord and music library available for members. This is beneficial for all skill levels and possibly even inspiration to someone just starting.

Before you take the plunge though, with any of these sites, try out their free lessons. Pretty much all of the better sites offer them, and its a great way to try them out before you buy.

So, my suggestion is to shell out the 50 cents a day and learn electric guitar online today. You'll be jamming along with your favorite tunes in no time, and you'll have a blast doing it!
